ERJ staff report (LMH)
Findlay, Ohio - Cooper Tire today announced that effective 1 Jan 2013, Jeff Schumaker will take on the role of managing director of Cooper Tire Europe, headquartered in Melksham, England.
Schumaker will succeed Julian Baldwin, who has announced that he will retire effective 31 Jan 2013 after leading Cooper Tire Europe since 2006. Cooper Tire Europe includes tyre manufacturing facilities in the UK and Serbia, as well as sales and marketing, technical, and distribution operations throughout Europe.
“Jeff's demonstrated leadership skills and broad range of competencies gained throughout his long and diverse career at Cooper Tire position him well to succeed Julian, who has accomplished a great deal in his years at the helm of Cooper Tire Europe,†said Hal Miller, President, international tyre division.
Schumaker is a 24-year Cooper Tire veteran who has been serving as Director-Sales and Marketing for Cooper Tire Europe since August of this year. Prior to that position, Schumaker was General Manager for Cooper Tire's manufacturing joint venture in Mexico, Corporacion de Occidente, and its wholly owned Cooper Tire de Mexico sales and marketing organization for three years.
Schumaker earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in operations management and manufacturing management from Kettering University (formerly GMI Engineering & Management Institute) in Flint, Michigan.
Baldwin joined Cooper Tire Europe in 1993 as Director-Business Development for the Avon brand in Melksham. Three years later, he was appointed Market Development Manager, and then General Manager, Racing Division. In 1999, Baldwin was named Marketing and Motorsports Director, a position he held until his 2006 appointment to head Cooper Tire Europe.
