ERJ staff report (LMH)
Ferndown, UK - Superior Seals, a UK O-ring manufacturer, has celebrated the opening of its “world-class†academy building. His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent, officially opened Superior's new academy at its premises on the Ferndown Industrial Estate near Wimborne.
Superior says it is renowned for its innovation and engineering and for producing high performance components and compounds for some of the best known manufacturers in the world. This year Superior is also extending its laboratory facilities for compound development.
During his visit, the Duke was shown around the academy's facilities including apprentice classroom, audio-visual presentation room and customer areas.
“This investment was the right thing to do for our business. Our Academy is not just a building - it's been designed to be an inspiration to our staff as well as a fantastic environment for customers and potential customers to come and see the Superior way of life,†commented Tim Brown, Superior's managing director.
Currently Superior has fourteen apprentices, who have been handpicked from local schools. Superior said its investment in its apprenticeship scheme illustrates the company's belief in 'growing its own timber' and it's hoped that the new Academy will provide an exceptional environment for that talent to grow.
