ECHA tells companies: Check your REACH-IT data
ERJ staff report (DS)
Helsinki, Finland -- EChA, the European Chemicals Agency charged with implementing REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals) legislation, has suggested that companies make use of a new feature on the REACH-IT database. The feature allows registrants to see all the names of legal entities that have received a registration or an inquiry number for the same substance.
ECHA strongly recommends that existing and potential registrants, having successfully inquired and/or registered, check the consistency of the information they have submitted in their dossiers to avoid their own company details from being unexpectedly disclosed. In the specific case of notifications under the former Directive 67/548/EEC (NONS), whether claimed under REACH or not, ECHA advises their owner to assess whether their identity needs to be protected.
The REACH-IT homepage will be updated regularly to provide more details concerning the release date of the last version of REACH-IT that will be frozen up to the next registration deadline.
