EChA announces new chair of management board
ERJ staff report (DS)
Helsinki -- The ECHA Management Board elected Nina Cromnier, the Swedish member, as its new Chair on 27 September. She will take up the post on 1 October 2012 for a period of two years. EChA is the European Chemicals Agency charged with implementing REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals) legislation.
Cromnier has been Director General of the Swedish Chemicals Agency since 2010. Before that, she worked at the Swedish Ministry of Environment, her latest position being the Director for Chemicals and Waste Division.
The former Chair, Mr Thomas Jakl, the Austrian member, lead the Board for two full terms since 2008. He steered the Board during the crucial set-up phase of the Agency and through a successful first REACH registration deadline.
