Alpha Tech increases productivity of its MDR, MV instruments
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Akron, Ohio -Alpha Technologies has announced the global release of their latest product enhancements - Long life seals for MDR and Mooney instruments.
Alpha has developed a family of long life seals for its rheometers (MDR2000 and PMDR) and Mooney (MV2000) instruments. These seals replace the standard seals and typically last 6 months before they need to be changed, the company said in a 1 Sept news release.
The Rheometer Long Life Seal is a highly advanced seal that makes the sealed cavity MDR2000 or PMDR as convenient as a seal-less system, as the Long Life Seal allows instruments to run without seal changes and associated calibration for six months.
The time to change die seals and recalibrate a system can take up to 3 hours, but Alpha claims its new Long Life Seal eliminates the need for seal change for a 6 month period. A high intensity user who changes seals twice a week will gain 156 hours uptime in 6 months, the company said.
In its Mooney instruments, Alpha said routine replacement of the rotor shaft seal in the Lower Die Seals of an MV2000 is an essential part of the preventive maintenance tasks carried out within a Quality Control Laboratory. In a high throughput application, seals can require changing every few days. The six-month life of these new seals will give a user up to 50 additional hours of up time per year, Alpha said.
