Ceat starts journey to TQM

Mumbai, India - In its 2011-2012 annual report, Indian tyre maker Ceat Ltd said it has Started a TQM journey towards
business excellence through the
implementation of industry
best practices.
Other highlights include the setting up of a research unit at its new truck and bus radial plant in Halol and increasing market share in India's OE car segment and in motorcycle sales in India.
During the year under review, Ceat said it saw continuous ramp-up of production
capacity at the Halol plant. By the end of 2011-12,
the plant operated at 90 TPD. This
contributed 10.8 percent of total volumes.
During 2011-12, Ceat increased the
outsourcing capacity of motorcycle
tyres from 250,000 units to
450,000 units.
During 2011-12, the company introduced a premium
range of products (PRO Series) in truck and
'GRIPP' range in motorcycles.
The company also plans to set up a green?eld
tyre manufacturing plant in Bangladesh with an initial
installed capacity of 65 MT per day.
A local press report said a Ceat group company, Ceat Kelani tyres aims to double capacity for car tyres at its plant in Sri Lanka.
