SI Group complaint prompts US ITC to Investigate rubber resin imports

New York -- Following a complaint by SI Group, Inc., the US International Trade Commission (USITC) will investigate imports of rubber tackifying resins and processes.
SI Group's complaint, filed on 21 May 2012, alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the misappropriation of trade secrets asserted by SI Group, Inc., and the importation into the United States and sale of certain rubber resins, including "tackifier" ("tackifiers") made using trade secrets asserted by SI Group, Inc. The complainants request that the USITC issue an exclusion order and a cease and desist order.
The complaint names a series of respondents, including Sino Legend (Zhangjiagang) Chemical Co., Ltd., of China and related companies. Sino Legend forcefully denies any wrong-doing, saying theie proess was designed and developed beg=fore any possibility of illegal activity.
USITC said it has not yet made any decision on the merits of the case and the investigation is intended to see if there is any justification in SI Group's complaint..
AN initial determination will be made as early as possible and the ITC expects within 45 days to set a schedule for the investigation.
