Lanxess confirms BR, S-SBR investment at Port Jérôme
ERJ staff report (DS)
Port Jérôme, France - Lanxess AG has said it expects to spend around euro 30 million upgrading its Port Jérôme facility for synthetic rubber.
The facility is a solution reactor, capable of making either Nd-catalysed butadiene rubber (Nd-BR) or Solution-SBR or both. The plant in Port Jérôme currently has a production capacity of 140,000 metric tons per year.
Lanxess said the investment will increase combined capacity as well as improving energy efficiency. The company did not give a split between the different materials made at the unit, though industry experts suggest the plant produces mostly Nd-BR with relatively small amounts of S-SBR.
