Goodyear awarded Bombardier OE fitment
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Akron, Ohio -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will supply its Goodyear Flight radial tyre to the new Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000 business aircraft, which are scheduled to enter service in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
Goodyear will provide Bombardier with nose and main radial tyres for both the original equipment and replacement channels, Goodyear said.
"This award underscores Goodyear's commitment to providing the industry with revolutionary radial tyre solutions with the incorporation of alloy core bead technology," said Bert Aertssen, general manager, global aviation, Goodyear.
Alloy bead technology "reduces the weight of a tyre by replacing the steel core of the tyre's bead area with lighter, alloy-like aluminum," Aertssen noted. "It will contribute to the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets achieving improved fuel efficiency and performance."
Goodyear has provided original equipment tyres for Bombardier's fleet of CRJ Series regional jets, as well as a number of business jets.
