Lanxess consolidating rubber chemical production

Brunsbüttel, Germany - Lanxess is to cease manufacture of an intermediate for anti-oxidant Vulkanox at its Brunsbüttel plant. Production of Vulkanox 4020 and Vulkanox HS are not affected. Lanxess said customers will not be affected by the move.
The Brunsbüttel site employs around 100, of whom 81 are involved in the production of rubber chemicals. Seventeen of these are affected by the decision. Lanxess said these people will be offered socially-acceptable alternatives.
Lanxess said it will continue to make Vulkanox at the site and is building a transfer station at the site to accept the intermediate from another source.
