New York - Tyre and rubber companies feature in the 2012 listing of 'most admired companies' published by Fortune, but they tended to move down in the rankings this year, while their suppliers moved up the tables.
In the category, Motor Vehicle parts, Michelin dropped from top slot to 4th place with an overall score of 6.41; Goodyear dropped to seventh place with an overall score of 5.2 from second and Bridgestone dropped a slot to 6th place from 5th, with an overall score of 5.48. Continental did not suffer the same drop, remaining in 11th position with an overall score of 4.55. Outside the tyre segment, ZF Friedrichshafen rose one slot to ninth position, with an overall score of 4.93.
In the Chemicals category, DuPont topped the ranking, moving up one slot from second place last year. The company's overall ranking of 6.67 was enough to win 37th place in the full listing. In the same category, PPG Industries moved up to No3 from No 5 with an overall score of 6.05
In the Metals category, ArcelorMittal recorded top slot with a score of 6.95; China's Baosteel won 8th place with a score of 6.44 and Kobe Steel won 10th place with an overall score of 6.38
