Consumer Reports studies winter tyres in US
ERJ staff report (DS)
Jay Peak Ski Resort, Vermont - US Consumer organisation Consumer Reports is testing winter tyres in Vermont. The group notes tat Winter tyres are more effective than either Summer tyres or All-seasons, but has not yet finished testing, and says there will be further updates in the coming days.
The tests involve 77 different tyre models, including all-season (S- and T-speed rated) tyres, performance all-seasons in H- and V-speed ratings, and winter tyres.
The group says, “No surprising trends have emerged thus far, but there have been some revelations at the model level.†For instance, they say, “we observed one H- and V-speed rated all-season tyre model that excelled in our test, rivaling the snow traction performance of many winter tyres. In contrast, there were some models that should be avoided if you drive in wintry conditions.â€
