Bekaert restructures; steelcord unaffected

Kortrijk, Belgium - Bekaert has announced a substantial restructuring of its operations in solar power and stainless wire. The steelcord activity is largely unaffected.
The company has advised its Belgian works councils of its intention to downsize some of its activities in Aalter, Zwevegem, Deerlijk and Ingelmunster. Approximately 600 jobs would be affected in Belgium.
