Tires Unlimited files for Ch. 11 bankruptcy protection

Dayton, Ohio -- Tires Unlimited Inc., a combination brick-and-mortar and Internet tyre retailer, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Ohio.
According to documents recently filed with the court, the dealership has approximately $3.26 million in “non-contingent, non-insider, unsecured and secured debts.†Among those with larger claims against Tires Unlimited are TBC Corp., Goodyear and Tucker Rocky Distributing of Chicago, the court records show.
The bankruptcy court has set a meeting of creditors for Nov. 18 at the court's offices in Dayton.
Tires Unlimited, founded in 1976, sells motorcycle, ATV and speciality tyres on its website as well as through its retail store in Dayton, where the company is based.
Company representatives did not respond to calls for for comment.
