Sincere efforts needed to stop corruption, Rubber Board told

Kottayam, India -- Dr NK Jayakumar, vice chancellor, National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi called for sincere efforts from the people to eradicate corruption, the Rubber Board of India said in a 4 Nov announcement.
Jayakumar was delivering the keynote address in the valedictory function of the Vigilance awareness period organised by the Rubber Board at Kottayam on 4 Nov. The basic reason for corruption is not lack of laws, but the flaws in their implementation, he added. He also pointed out that wrong policies and programmes will definitely lead to corruption and there is actually no short cut to root out it. Therefore, we should be always vigilant to avoid the circumstances that lead to corruption.
Dr NK Jayakumar also distributed prizes to the winners of elocution competitions convened by the Board in connection with the vigilance awareness week. Shri S Suryakumar (Employee Section), Kum Aiswarya George (School Section) and Shri Jose Kuriakose (College Section) secured first place in the competitions.
The meeting was presided over by Dr J Thomas (Rubber Production Commissioner). Shri S Mohanachandran Nair (Director, P&PD) and Shri J John (President, Rubber Producers Society, Madathipparambu) offered felicitations. Shri Thomas Augustine (Vigilance Officer) welcomed the gathering and Shri J Chandrasenan Nair (Dy Rubber Production Commissioner) proposed a vote of thanks.
