Tokai to set up logistics unit in Shanghai
ERJ staff report (DS)
Shanghai, China -- Tokai Rubber Industries intends to establish a logistics operation in Shanghai. The aim of the operation is to reduce the number of trucks used on empty journeys and to speed the transfer of goods between Tokai's various operations and the local port facilities and airports. It is expected the company will be in operation from July 2012.
By consolidating all the logistical functions and having one single purchaser of logistics services, the company hopes to ameliorate the steady rise in freight charges.
Tokai recently established a similar operation in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture on the Japanese mainland, and the different operations will work closely together.
