Pirelli's H:01 truck tyre features silica compound
ERJ staff report (DS)
Milan -- Pirelli is to launch a new a long haul truck tyre range under the name H:01, which features novel technologies to improve fuel ecoomy, wet grip and reduce noise -- all three parameters to be measured under the new EU tyre label to be introduced in 2012.
The new H:01 line, the latest addition to the Series 01 range, features the FH:01 for the steer and the TH:01 for the drive axle and is designed for use on motorways and arterial roads.
In addition to the increased mileage, products within the range have reduced rolling resistance (up to 30 percent), reduced noise emissions (up to 30 percent). The comapny also said, "improved handling in both wet and dry conditions and high performance standards in terms of stopping distance and grip and traction on wet surfaces are all confirmed."
Pirelli said, "Enriched with high contents of silica and nano components, the new tread compound formulations of H:01 tyres, (for which there are two Pirelli patents pending), also play a key role in guaranteeing top performance in terms of low rolling resistance and high mileage"
The comapny clarified this, saying the tyres feature a, "Dual layer tread compound (DLTC): an external layer compound optimised to raise mileage, increase grip and reduce stopping distances, and an internal layer compound to reduce rolling resistance and guarantee enhanced structural integrity"
he FH:01 and TH:01 will be available on the market from January 2012 in the sizes 295/80R22.5, 295/60R22.5, 315/60R22.5, 305/70R22.5, 315/70R22.5, 315/80R22.5 and 385/55R22.5 (FH:01 only).
