Roland wins Charles Goodyear Medal

Cleveland, Ohio -- The ACS Rubber Division has named C. Michael Roland, head of the Polymer Physics Section at the Naval Research Laboratory, as the winner of the 2012 Charles Goodyear Medal.
The division also picked four others for awards: Hans Schuster, director of the Deutsches Institut fur Kautschuktechnologie, as the recipient of the Melvin Mooney Award; Ica Manas-Zloczower chosen as the George S. Whitby Award winner; Liqun Zhang as the recipient of the Sparks-Thomas Award; and Jean Leopold Leblanc to receive the Fernley H. Banbury award.
Roland was chosen for his diverse accomplishments in the field of polymers, particularly elastomers.
The division will present the award at is spring meeting in San Antonio in 2012.
