UK survey shows 69% of fleet owners are unaware of tyre labelling rules

London -- A survey has shown that more than two-thirds of respondents to a UK trade magazine are not aware of the forthcoming EU regulations on tyre labelling.
The survey was carried out by Fleet News, and sponsored by Michelin.
The survey showed that in 48 percent of respondents, the tyre-purchasing decision was made by te Fleet Manager and in 43 percent by a leasing company.
In terms of the most influential factors affecting tyre purchase, safety (86 percent) was seen as the most important, followed by longevity (53 percent) with price (44 percent) coming third. Fuel economy (36 percent) was seen as the fourth most important factor
71 percent of respondents felt that the tyre brand can affect fuel economy, and just over 70 percent of respondents have Michelins fitted on their fleet. This was followed by Continental (64.5 percent), Goodyear (60.9 percent) and Bridgestone (57.4 percent). Less than 20 percent mentioned Hankook tyres.
