ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo, Japan - JSR Group issued a report on its elastomers business along with an invitation to attend the annual general meeting.
The company said its 25kt S-SBR expansion of the Yokkaichi plant will come on stream in November 2011, bringing capacity there to 60 kt/year. The company has also signed a JV agreement to add 50 - 100 kt of S-SBR in Thailand and has capacity rights for 30 kt following a deal with Styron at its Schkopau plant.
The company is adding 60 kt capacity for EPDM at the Kumho Polychem company scheduled to be on stream in 2013, bringing overall capacity there to 150 kt/year.
The company has assigned its S-SBR and butyl rubber business as category A business, which means they are a priority for investment, and JSR aims to be in a No1 or No 2 position globally.
EPDM, NBR and E-SBR are assigned to category C, where the company does not expect to add further capacity in the mid-term.
The AGM tales place in Tokyo on 17 June.
