Bridgestone reports strong Q1, revises forecast upward

Tokyo -- Bridgestone corp. has reported operating income up by 55 percent in the three months to 31 march 2011 on sales up by nearly 7 prcent. The company also revised upwards its forecasts for the full year.
The company said operating income for the period reached yen 55 868 million (euro 484 million) on sales of yen 704 billion (euro 6105 million)
Bridgestone said it expects full-year sales to reach yen 3190 billion (euro 27 661 million) , up 1 percent and operating income to reach yen 167 billion (euro 1448 million)
