Cancarb to delay maintenance shutdown for thermal black

Medicine Hat, Alberta - Cancarb said it is re-scheduling its maintenance shut-downs to keep up with increased demand for thermal black products,
In a press release dated 10 May, Dave Petrie, President of Cancarb Ltd., stated that â€despite the recent increases in various raw material costs, the rubber industry is running extremely strong. As a result we made the decision to do a phased maintenance shut-down of two of our units, and bring a third unit (unit 5), shut down since 2008, back on-line to meet the increased demand.â€
Cancarb whose only business is manufacturing high quality thermal carbon black, produces 45,000 tones of N990 annually.
