UK company offers tyre-shaving service
ERJ staff report (DS)
Nottingham, UK -- A small UK precision engineering company is now offering a service to racing drivers, in which tyres can be lathe-cut, which is claimed to improve performance.
Midland Tyre Shaving offers CNC-controlled services to many industries. The equipment is over-engineered to cut rubber. The company says it can reduce the weight of the tyre; apply a camber to the tyre and put circumferential grooves to improve wet grip.
