BKT to add $300m tyre plant in Gujarat
ERJ staff report (DS)
Singapore - Indian OTR manufacturer
Balkrishna Tyres (BKT) has confirmed plans for a fourth tyre plant in
India. The US$300 million greenfield site investment in Gujarat is
scheduled to come on stream in 2012 and will eventually boost the company's total
production capacity by 80 percent.
“The new plant will provide us with much-needed additional capacity to
service our rapid growth in export markets and also allow us to direct
more of our production into India, which accounts for just 8-10 per
cent of current output,†says BKT executive director Anurag Poddar, speaking from TyrExpo Asia currently in progress in Singapore.
The company has also used Tyrexpo Asia to introduce a new corporate
identity with the theme of 'Growing Together,' chosen to reflect the
mutual growth of both BKT and its customers.
