Scottish Ministers aim to ensure winter tyre availability
ERJ staff report (DS)
Edinburgh, Scotland -- Scottish Ministers have brought together a voluntary alliance involving representatives from the insurance industry, tyre manufacturers and distributors and driving organisations to meet with the Transport Minister later this month to focus on the part winter tyres can play in keeping Scotland moving during severe weather.
Scotland's Transport Minister Keith Brown said, “By bringing this alliance together, I hope we can share experiences and best practice and examine new ways of ensuring every reasonable step is taken to allow individuals and businesses to make informed choices about all the options available to them to continue safe, reliable journeys in severe weather conditions, including the use of winter tyres.â€
The alliance has been brought together to consider issues of the market supply and demand for winter tyres and how to promote information to enable individuals and businesses to make informed choices about options such as the fitting of winter tyres to improve their journeys in severe weather.
