Japanese sales of trucks, buses and large cars double in April

Tokyo - Japan's automobile manufacturers' association (JAMA) has released figures for car and motorbike sales in April 2010. The figures show growth in all segments, but specifically sales of cars above 2000 cc more than doubled to 375 558 units in April, up by 192 000 from a year previously.
Overall, automobile production in April 2010 was recorded as 731,794 units. Compared with the 485,405 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 246,389 units or 50.8%, and production increase on the same month of the previous year for six consecutive months.
Sales of large trucks also more than doubled, to 40 465 units, up from under 20 000 a year previously. Sales of large buses also more than doubled, to 1122 units.
