Lanxess re-opens rubber chemical plant in India

Leverkusen - Lanxess has re-opened its anti-oxidant plant in India. The company closed the unit in Thane, Maharashtra state, about a year ago and has moved and re-built it at Jihagadia, Gujarat state, India. The company said production of the rubber chemicals plant was started up as planned.
A Lanxess spokesman declined to discuss production capacity, but said the unit had receieved a technical upgrade during the re-build. He did not mention any capacity increase.
The unit will continue to supply the global rubber and mineral oil additive market as well as the rapidly growing Indian tyre and rubber industry with antioxidants under the Vulkanox brand
“With the plant, Lanxess stands out as the only Western company to be manufacturing rubber chemicals in India," said Rainier van Roessel, member of the board of management of Lanxess AG.
