Bridgestone Europe improves OE position
ERJ staff report (DS)
Brussels -- Bridgestone said it has strengthened its position in the European tyre original equipment market with the announcement of new contracts. With the extension of the Ecopia eco-friendly range, the first contract with Citroën and the launch of the Potenza S001 Ultra High Performance tyre, Bridgestone said it now covers all the main market segments and supplies tyres to all major car manufacturers in Europe.
Bridgestone said Citroën has for the first time in more than 70 years bought tyres from a supplier other than Michelin. Bridgestone has started delivering Turanza ER300 tyres for the new C3 5-door hatchback and Potenza RE050A tyres for the stylish DS3 3-door hatch, the first model in Citroën's new premium DS line.
The company has also won new fitments with Mercedes-Benz using Bridgestone's high fuel efficiency Ecopia technology. The latest Mercedes-Benz cars to use Ecopia rubber are the C- Class, SLK-Class and E-Class. The Turanza ER300 Ecopia is available as an option for each of these models.
Bridgestone said its Ecopia range employs new materials and design methods to deliver enhanced grip at the same time as good fuel economy.
