Bridgestone-Bandag opens Thailand retread centre
ERJ staff report (RD)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone subsidiary Thai Bridgestone has opened the Bridgestone Bandag Retread Center (BBRC) in Thailand to contribute to the development of its retread solution business in Asia, a 25 Feb company statement said.
BBRC is a 3444-sq.m. (37070-sq.ft) facility that can retread 44 units per day.
As well as producing retread tyres, BBRC provide solutions-based business offerings using the Bandag retread manufacturing process and target truck and bus tyre customers, Bridgestone said, adding that the BBRC will also conduct training for retread shop technicians in both company owned and franchise locations.
Bridgestone anticipates that the retread and solutions business will significantly grow in Asia. To prepare for this growth, the company is constructing a retread materials plant in Thailand. Production at the facility is expected to begin in November of this year.
The Bandag retread process uses pre-vulcanized tread rubber, which is applied to the tyre casing and then vulcanized.
