Solutia reports full year results

St Louis, Missouri-- In anouncing its ful-year results, Solutia Inc said its Technical Specialties' fourth quarter 2009 net sales were $208 million, up $14 million or 7

percent compared to the same period in 2008.

Adjusted EBITDA increased to $71 million for the fourth

quarter of 2009 compared to $43 million in the prior year period primarily due to higher sales volumes,

lower raw material costs and improved manufacturing utilization rates, partially offset by lower average

selling prices.

Divisional sales for the 12 months fell to $774 million from $1015 million, while profit (EBITDA) rose to $261 million from $192 million.

The Solutia unit includes sales from rubber chemicals specialist, Flexsy.
