Kumho Tire to debut 15-series tyre at SEMA Show

Rancho Cucamonga, California -- Kumho Tire USA Inc. will debut a 15-series ultra-low-profile tyre, the Ecsta KU31, next week at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

The tyre, which will initially be available in size 385/15ZR22, comes with a Z speed rating for use by sports cars, including the Dodge Viper, Ferrari F430 and the Corvette Z6.

Kumho said it expects the Ecsta KU31 15-series will be more appealing to market segments such as the tune-up segment for supercars and high-end tuner cars.

“The world's first 15 series tyre is a perfect example of our ongoing commitment to research and development,” said Sae-chul Oh, president and CEO of Kumho. “This is one of Kumho's many innovations, including aroma, coloured smoke, run-flat and X-speed tyres. Kumho Tires will continue to innovate as we race ahead toward our goal of becoming one of the world's top five tyre makers.”

Kumho said the new tyre has semi-run flat capability, meaning the tire remains on the rim even after a puncture or loss of pressure.
