Magnum links with Sekhar Research

Fort Lauderdale, Florida -- Magnum d'Or and Sekhar Research Innovations Sdn Bhd (SRI) are to work together to develop new rubber processing aids and compounds. Magnum has formed a joint venture with SRI which will allow it to bring some of Sekhar's technology for sale into North America.

Magnum said the Sekhar-developed technology will allow rubber to be "reconstituted, liquefied, specially blended into EPDM powders, and EPDM compounds." Magnum has access to state of the art processing aids and new world proprietary rubber recycling equipment. Magnum said it it is working with Sekhar to "produce the next generation of retread compounds and reactivated ambient /cryogenic rubber powders for the world market. "

Sekhar Research Innovations is based in Malaysia, but Magnum said it is unrelated to Green Rubber, run by Vinod Sekhar. SRI says on its website that it was founded by the late Tan Sri Dr. B.C. Sekhar to develop and commercialise his own proprietary innovations and technologies. Today, SRI offers proprietary equipment and processes for the rubber recycling industry developed by his son Gopinath B. Sekhar.

Green Rubber, by contrast, is run by BC's other son, Vinod Sekhar, and uses technology based on BC's invention, De-Link to offer a 'de-vulcanisation' service for scrap rubber.

Magnum issued a statement saying, "We wish to acknowledge that there have been reports of inaccurate speculation currently circulating on the internet and message boards in the US that Magnum is providing the same products as Green Rubber or that there may be some collaborative dealings. These rumors are totally unfounded and completely inaccurate." The statement continued, "For the record, Magnum would like to state that it and its Joint Venture Partner Sekhar Research Innovations have no connection what so ever with Green Rubber. "
