Bridgestone shows new super single at IAA
ERJ staff report (DS)
Hanover, Germany -- Bridgestone has introduced a wide single tyre for truck drive axles. The new Greatec M709 introduced at IAA Hanover 2008 is designed and engineered as single drive fitments to replace conventional 315/70R22.5 twin tyre configurations.
Bridgestone said the single tyres must always be fitted in conjunction with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This allows the driver to check tyre pressures in “real timeâ€, alerting him to under-inflated tyres and enabling him to take corrective action, thus reducing the risk of road-side breakdown.
Bridgestone said the M709 has already been homologated by Mercedes-Benz as an original equipment fitment option on the new Actros from July 2008.
