Lion Copolymer plant returning to action
Baton Rouge, Louisiana -- Damage from Hurricane Gustav to Lion Copolymer LLC's SBR plant in Baton Rouge is minimal, communications have been restored and limited shipments have resumed, a company spokesman said.
“We are 95 percent confident power will be restored by Friday,†he said. “If that's the case, we probably can start production by Monday or Tuesday.â€
The firm's EPDM plant in Geismar, Louisiana, also came through the storm in good condition. Power remains out there, too, and the spokesman said he didn't know when the facility will resume production.
The shipments from Baton Rouge today were prestaged before the hurricane hit. Both factories were shut down before the storm.
Lion Copolymer's headquarters building in Baton Rouge sustained water damage, and all phones and internet connections were knocked out for a time.
