BST to build NBR latex plant, buys Dow-Reichhold's know-how

Bangkok, August 29, 2008 - Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. (BST) has bought the product formulations, equipment, and technology for producing NBR synthetic latex for use in manufacturing dipped gloves from Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex (DRSL). The buyout is expected to close within 30 days.
The company also expects to build a new plant. The 120,000-ton annual production, a state of the art plant, will be located in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, with expected to be in commercial operation by 2010. Butadiene - the main raw material - will be supplied from BST captive production.
In July 2007, ERJ reported that BST Elastomers Co, was planning to invest 2506 million baht (€55 million) to make acrylonitrile butadiene latex and modified acrylonitrile butadiene latex (nitrile latex) as raw materials for producing rubber gloves, foam and other products. The project was proposed by Pichit Nithivarin, who is president of BST Elastomers Co., Ltd. and it was expected to create 96 jobs.

BST said the project has received an approval from the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Authority and is undergoing an approval for investment promotional privileges from the Board of Investment (BOI).
