ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp. has opened a sales company in Lima, Peru. Named, “Bridgestone Off-The-Road Tire Peru S.A.C.â€, the new company will employ 10 and specialise in tyres for mining and construction equipment in Peru.
The new unit follows the same pattern as a similar unit set up in Chile. Bridgestone said it is actively addressing the South American market as a sales outlet for Bridgestone brand tyres prior to the increase in capacity of large and ultra-large off-the-road radial tyres at the new Kitakyushu Plant, which will begin production in 2009. Numerous mines operate in Central and South America, specifically in Peru, Chile and Mexico.
Bridgestone said it has a comprehensive business model for off-the-road tyres. Besides providing quality tyres in this area, efforts are made to supply the most appropriate tyres to customers based on an analysis of usage conditions and vehicle characteristics in order to respond to demanding conditions. In addition, tyre repairs and consulting services on the proper use and maintenance of these tyres are provided on-site.
