Canadian glove firm issues voluntary recall
ERJ staff report (DS)
Calgary, Canada -- Hedy Canada is recalling its non-sterile, lightly powdered, latex medical examination gloves and has suspended sales of the product following press reports that the gloves were contaminated with insects and insect larvae. The company has sent the recall notification to dealers and suppliers and is fully co-operating with HealthCanada.
"While we agree with Health Canada that the direct risk to health is considered low, we have chosen to implement the voluntary recall as part of our quality control program," said Brent Rusk, Managing Director for Hedy. "We take all quality issues very seriously and we feel this action is appropriate to address the concerns of our customers and the public."
The voluntary recall of these gloves has no impact on other products distributed by Hedy.
