Akron, Ohio -- Testing, research and consulting firm Smithers Group has consolidated three divisions -- Smithers Scientific Services, Smithers Rapra and Smithers Rapra's Information Products Group -- into a single business unit.
Since the operations have some technical overlap and in other areas are very complementary, the combination will benefit from a common vision and global coordination, said Michael Hochschwender, president and CEO of Smithers Group. The units' customers mostly are global companies.
Both Smithers Scientific Services, based in Akron, Ohio, and Smithers Rapra, headquartered in Shropshire, England, provide technology-based services to the tire, automotive and polymer industries.
