Flexsys file new patent-infringement with ITC
ERJ staff report (RD)
Washington DC - Solutia Inc unit, Flexsys America LP has filed a new complaint against Singorchem Co., in the long running dispute, citing an infringement upon Flexsys' patents for production of 4-ADPA and its intermediaries.
The current legal battle relates to the use of environmentally friendly methods for preparing compounds used in the manufacture of rubber products such as tyres, belts and hoses, which help prevent early degradation of rubber.
The company also filed civil patent infringement complaints with U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), against Shandong, Korea Kumho Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (KKPC), Kumho Tire Co. Inc. (KMHTY.PK) and Kumho Tire USA Inc.
Flexsys is seeking an exclusion order that pause the importation of Singorchem's 4-ADPA and 6PPD into the US, including that manufactured by KKPC. There is also a separate exclusion order already in effect for Singorchem material.
Jim Voss, president of Flexsys and senior vice president of Solutia, stated, "When our competitors attempt to illegally misappropriate our patented technology, we will continue to take aggressive action including the enforcement of our legal rights on a global scale."
