ECHA restricts on-line pre-registration tools for REACH
ERJ staff report (DS)
Helsinki -- Problems with software means the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is limiting its online pre-registration tools known as REACH-IT. The organisation told delegates to a progress meeting on 7 May that “Due to instability of the current REACH-IT version delivered by the contractor, the first production release of REACH-IT will only cover company sign up and online pre-registration.
Executive Director of ECHA, Geert Dancet said the rooll-out would take place as planned on 1 June, but the functionality will be limited to sign-=up and pre-registration.
Functions such as PPORD notification, inquiry and registration will not be available through the REACH-IT system, and people will need to use alternatives. Dancet was unable to give a date when this functionality might be available.
ECHA will communicate the alternative procedures during the week of 19 May. The main channel of communication will be the ECHA website, but the information will also be disseminated via national REACH helpdesks, Member State Authorities, Commission and industry organisations.
