BFNT extends premium truck, retread tyre warranties in the US

Nashville, Tennessee - Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire (BFNT) Llc is rolling out an extended warranty for its premium truck tyres and casings, increasing the coverage period to seven years and three retreadings.

The new limited warranty covers the tyre maker's Bridgestone-brand premium commercial tyres and casings when retreaded with the Bandag process.

If a premium Bridgestone-brand medium commercial truck tyre becomes unusable before wearing to 2/32-inch remaining tread depth within seven years from the date of manufacture, BFNT said it will credit the owner $130 (Euro 88). If a premium Bridgestone-brand casing becomes unusable before three Bandag retreadings, the owner will be credited $100.

The new warranty - on products purchased on or after 1 Sept - covers the company's most popular Bridgestone-brand premium medium commercial truck tyres: R287 steer, R280 steer, M726 EL drive and M720 drive in 11R22.5, 11R24.5, 295/75R22.5 and 285/75R24.5 sizes, in both G and H load ranges.

The warranty covers a casing for three retreadings when it has been inspected and retreaded by Bandag-certified retreaders within seven years from the date the tyre was manufactured, according to BFNT.

The premium warranty does not cover tyre damage due to road hazards, improper use or operation, such as overloading and underinflation, insufficient or improper maintenance or chemical contamination, and it covers on-highway fleet operations only-no on/off-highway tyres are included.

The Nashville-based tyre maker's “standard” warranty covers Bridgestone medium commercial tyres for a period of five years and does not provide consideration for retreads.

Muscatine, Iowa-based Bandag, which manufactures retreading materials and equipment, is the operating name of Bridgestone Bandag Llc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. ?
