Goodyear's Eagle F1 comes top in independent US test
ERJ staff report (SS)
Akron, Ohio -- Goodyear Tyre's new Eagle F1 Asymmetric has come top in independent test by The Tire Rack, one of the biggest sellers of tyres and wheels in the US.
The tyre features an outer tread zone for enhanced grip and a water-channeling inner tread zone to aid wet traction as well as a continuous center rib and a next-generation polymer tread compound, which help provide grip on dry roads and enhanced wet traction, said Goodyear, in a 17 Jan statement.
The test was conducted on four tyres. Each was tested in road conditions - allowing subjective feedback on noise, ride quality and everyday handling, then judged the tyres in wet and dry conditions on the company's test track.
Goodyear's tyre proved to be the fastest in dry conditions, showed plenty of overall grip and front/rear balance and finished first “by a wide margin†in wet conditions, according to the statement.
