Michelin on Chinese pollution blacklist
By David Shaw, ERJ staff
Beijing -- Michelin has been listed on the Chinese environmental agency's website for failing to implement monitoring, systems, for emitting strong smells and for excessive noise from its Shanghai Michelin Warrior Tire Co., Ltd. unit in Shanghai.
The company is on a list of over 4000 companies which pollute Chinese air. Of these, around 40 are multinationals. The list is produced by the Chinese IPE or Institute of Public and Environmental affairs.
The listing and map follows a similar project related to water pollution.
