Stargard, Szczenski Poland - On 13 Sept, Bridgestone Europe laid the foundation stone on the construction site of their Plant near Stargard, Szczenski Poland.
The plant will produce premium tyres for trucks and buses in the European market. The first tyres will be produced in early 2009, and the plant will employ around 750 people. On completion its output will rise to 5000 tyres per day.
Takashi Urano, Chairman, CEO and President of Bridgestone Europe said, the Stargard plant will be one of the most important plants in the Bridgestone group outside Japan. He thanked all those that have worked tirelessly to bring the project to this stage.
The ceremony included the burying of a commemorative letter in the foundations of the building, and a traditional Japanese breaking open of a Sake Barrel (pictured) to wish success on the project.
