VMI announces radial OTR tyre building machine
Epe, The Netherlands - VMI Epe has launched its first radial VMI OTR (off-the-road) tyre building system. This system utilises flat drum building technology and assembles in one process green tyres in sizes from 17.5 R25 up to 24.00 R35, including the application of the tread. This unique method of assembling radial OTR tyres utilises transfer rings and other proven technology of the VMI all steel truck TBM.
This high capacity radial OTR machine produces high quality radial tyres, up to a rate of 2.5 tyres per hour for 24.00 R35 tyres. Down time for size changes is low because of a minimum amount of tooling and the maximum use of universal computer controls.
Answering the needs of the booming OTR tyre market, VMI's R&D team has been working one and a half year designing and building this first VMI radial OTR machine, which was recently put into operation.
