Synergy Drive to bring 8 Malaysian plantation companies together
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -Â A new company in Malaysia called Synergy Drive is aiming to dominate the palm oil sector there by merging the assets of eight plantation companies, some of which also have interests in rubber plantations.
The eight companies are Golden Hope Plantations Berhad, Guthrie Ropel Berhad, Highlands & Lowlands Berhad, Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad, Mentakab Rubber Company (Malaya) Berhad, Sime Darby Berhad, Sime Engineering Services Berhad and Sime UEP Properties Berhad.
if the merger goes through -Â and many of the target companies' shareholders have already approved the deal -Â Synergy Drive will become either the biggest or oneof the biggest companies on the KL stock exchange and employ over 100 000 people.
Mentakab Rubber Shareholders agreed to the merger earlier this week, while shareholders at Sime and Guthrie cleared the deal last week. Golden Hope shareholders approved the merger earlier this year.
