Dow picks Jacobs for Schkopau S-SBR expansion
Schkopau, Germany - Dow Chemical Co has selected Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. of California to provide detailed design services for an expansion to Dow's solution elastomer manufacturing facility at Schkopau, Germany. In June, Dow said it was adding annual capacity for around 60 kt of solution- SBR at Schkopau. The exansion is due on stream in 2008.
Jacobs said the project involves adding a third line to the existing two lines at the factory. The company did not reveal any financial details of the contract.
In a statement, Jacobs said it will perform the detailed engineering entirely from its office in Mumbai, India, with management from its hydrocarbon center in Leiden, The Netherlands.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Andy Kremer said, "This new opportunity extends our 10-year relationship with Dow in Germany. Jacobs designed and built the original facility at Schkopau, and we are pleased to help extend Dow's production capacity at this important site."
