Carlisle CEO begins work
Charlotte, North Carolina - Carlisle Cos. Inc. has appointed David Roberts, formerly the top executive of fluid-handling equipment maker Graco Inc., its new chairman, president and CEO, effective today.
Roberts, 59, takes over the duties of President and CEO Richmond McKinnish, who has retired from those tasks but remains on Carlisle's board of directors and will assist Roberts until his term expires next April. Roberts also succeeds Stephen Munn, chairman since January 1994.
Roberts joined Graco in June 2001, and during his six-year stay he administered many acquisitions in the US, Europe and, most recently, China. His appointment was disclosed 12 June.
Carlisle, a diversified manufacturing company with activities in tyres and wheels, commercial roofing, construction materials, power transmission and heavy-duty brakes, said Robert's background will help the company make and integrate acquisitions as well as create shareholder value.
Munn, 64, also served as president and CEO from September 1988 to February 2001. He will continue to serve as lead director and member of the executive committee of the board of directors.
McKinnish, 57, was CEO since February 2001 and president from March 2000 to the present. He was executive vice president from March 1999 to March 2000,
Roberts said in a statement that he is honored to be chosen to lead Carlisle after it saw many successful years under the guidance of McKinnish and Munn.
