Leyland Rubber in UK goes into liquidation
Farington, UK -Â Leyland Rubber Ltd has gone into liquidation with the loss of about 60 jobs. The company, based on the Lancashire Business Park, Farington, was set up two years ago from the ashes of PXL group which combined the assets of Xlflex, Phoenix Medical and some other companies.
The company is reported to have been in financial difficulties for some time, with employees telling local newspapers that they had not been paid for up to three months.
Marshall Peters of Preston Lancashire has been appointed administrator. A spokeswoman said it has three people working at Leyland Rubber, and that the creditors' meeting has been set for 9 January
Although Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Ltd, based in Middleton, Manchester has a similar name, it has never had any relationship with Leyland. Leyland & Birmingham Rubber continues in business and is strong and healthy, said a company spokesman.
