Goodyear launches energy-saving conveyor belt
Palm Springs, California - Goodyear Engineered Products' new rubber conveyor belt compound will reduce belt operating costs by 12 percent, the California-based firm has claimed.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. subsidiary said its Easyrider conveyor belt recovers its shape quicker than conventional rubber compounds, helping the belt move more efficiently over idlers and reducing the amount of energy required to run the system.
Mike Braucher, Goodyear marketing manager of conveyor belt products, said the low-rolling resistant technology in Easyrider was developed by Goodyear tyre scientists for a recently-introduced line of truck tyres designed for fuel economy.
"It operates more efficiently and creates less heat, which extends belt life," Braucher said.
